How Long Since YOU Had A Good Girl Friend?

“I used to have friends that just just hung out together.” She sighed. “ We didn’t have to make plans or anything  We just hungbigstockphoto_Eating_Popcorn_317101 out”.  The woman on the other end of the phone continued, “I think I just gave up trying years ago.”  Can you relate?

Where did our social circles go anyway? Years ago it seemed we easily congregated in some one’s apartment or dorm room. Young moms might gather occasionally at the neighborhood Starbucks, but eventually work environments become the main social environment.  How few of us work with groups of people who are genuinely supportive and kind to one another.  On good days ambivalent and on bad ones down right hostile, no wonder we isolate ourselves more and more as we get older.

Where can we go to find an environment where women can get together and have fun getting to know each other.  That is what WomenOnCourse.com is all about. I am, what WOC calls an “Avid” so I am considered near expert, a nice ego stroke I am not embarrassed to admit.

During my first event, I had the best time playing golf that I have had in many years.
Playing a nine hole scramble in years past would have had the appeal of a luke warm bowl of watery oatmeal.  I would never have gone out of my way for such a thing.  But now, after having been on sick leave for a couple of seasons and just getting back into the game, Women On Course is bringing real entertainment and new friends back into my life.

We were hosted by the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego. Andrea, the tournament director greeted us personally and even carried my bag around to the golf cart staging area.  I was warmly greeted by Patty Adkins,  an area teaching professional called an Ambassador by WOC.

After the round we were served a beautiful array of appetizers and our choice of red or white wine.  The setting was exquisite.  From our terrace table we could see the rose gardens and the golf course at sunset.  All of this for only $35 per member and $45 per guest.

I couldn’t wait to sign up for the next event.
It is delightful at this point of my life and career to meet such interesting and diverse women.  As Oprah Winfrey says, everyone has a story, and Women on Course attracts the most fascinating people.  You learn a lot about a person when you play golf with them.

I have met financial advisers, attorneys, accountants and other interesting professionals.   It is certainly not my father’s networking.  We laughed and enjoyed one anothers company even though the experience level of the players was widely varied.  The events are relaxed and easy going, the company is great, the food and wine exquisite and all details are taken care of seamlessly by the onsite WOC volunteers.

For more information including scheduled events in your area, go to http://WomenonCourse.com.
